LymphaTouch supports recovery in both clinic and elite sport
Rehabilitation professional Paavo Leiramo uses LymphaTouch for musculoskeletal and sports injuries, both at his clinic and with Finland's national football team.

Paavo Leiramo is a rehabilitation professional with over 45 years of experience. He runs Lahden Kuntoutus in Lahti, Finland, together with his wife. The clinic specialises in musculoskeletal conditions, lymphatic therapy and athlete care. Leiramo is also part of the medical team of Finland's national football team, known as Huuhkajat.
According to Leiramo, LymphaTouch has become an important tool both at the clinic and with the national team, especially in situations where traditional methods alone are not enough.
“We've clearly had clients come to us because of LymphaTouch. We use it so much that we now have two devices, and we need both.”
Starting treatment straight away, even in acute cases
LymphaTouch is a significant help with acute and painful conditions. Leiramo says the device makes it possible to start treatment in situations where manual therapy is not yet possible, such as an acute ankle sprain or very sensitive tissue in the neck and shoulder area.
“Sometimes the pain is so intense that all you can do is apply cold. But with LymphaTouch we can get going straight away. It gets the fluids moving, so rehabilitation can start sooner.”
Managing swelling is central to both sports physiotherapy and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Using negative pressure, LymphaTouch stimulates lymphatic flow and metabolism, which speeds up recovery.
“We get swelling under control faster, and that speeds up recovery. Once the fluids are moving, we can carry on with manual therapy or other treatments.”
One example has stayed with Leiramo:
“One client lost five kilos with lymphatic therapy and LymphaTouch alone. That really showed how effective it can be.”

A valuable tool with professional athletes
In elite sport, time is often critical. Leiramo uses LymphaTouch regularly as the national team travels, where quick responses and working in field conditions are essential.
“The device comes with me on every trip. Players often have impact injuries or tight muscles, and with LymphaTouch we can treat exactly the right area. It doesn't need any special setup and works just as well in a hotel room or a changing room.”
Together with other treatments, such as cold therapy and compression boots, LymphaTouch is part of a comprehensive sports physiotherapy toolkit. Players find the treatment comfortable and effective, and many ask for it by name.
“I wouldn't set them against each other. They support one another: compression boots for recovery, LymphaTouch for targeted treatment.”

A versatile addition to manual therapy
Leiramo sees LymphaTouch as an ideal complement to manual therapy. In certain situations it raises the quality of care and allows a more versatile approach. When the situation is acute or the area is particularly painful, treatment often starts with LymphaTouch and moves on to manual techniques once the tissue is ready for them.
With more than four decades in rehabilitation, Leiramo sees LymphaTouch as an established part of rehabilitation now and in the future, both in the clinic and in sport. It offers concrete benefits to the client and the therapist alike, and it allows rehabilitation to begin early, safely and with a versatile range of methods.
“I wholeheartedly recommend LymphaTouch to anyone working with musculoskeletal conditions. Its biggest advantage is that treatment can start already in the acute phase, and that is often when it matters most.”
