Leena Vallin: “The device works as a third hand for a nurse or therapist”

Nurse and lymph therapist Leena Vallin has used LymphaTouch every day since 2009 to treat pain and swelling. She describes how the device supports her work.

Nurse and lymph therapist Leena Vallin

I'm Leena Vallin, a nurse and entrepreneur, and the only person working in my company. I'm a nurse specialising in internal medicine and surgery, with 30 years of experience in healthcare. I completed a specialist qualification in pain management at JAMK University of Applied Sciences from 2000 to 2002. I qualified as a lymph therapist in 2009, the same year I bought my very first LymphaTouch device. Since then, I've used it every day with every one of my patients to treat both pain and swelling. I can no longer count the hours I've spent with the device! At my busiest, I gave more than 900 treatment sessions a year, although I've now been consciously reducing my number of patients.

The LymphaTouch device is an excellent tool for comprehensive body care. It works as a third hand for a nurse or therapist, helping to gently treat tissues and structures that are hard to reach with the hands (e.g. the suboccipital muscles, intercostal muscles and joint spaces). However, it is important to understand physiology, anatomy and biochemistry in order to support the body's functions with the device in a well-founded way and to choose the right settings and pressure values for the area being treated.

LymphaTouch helps me activate tissue metabolism, mobilise skin, connective tissue and muscles, and treat joints and fibrotic tissue easily and effectively. Negative pressure is a gentler way to treat sensitive and fragile skin than the hands. With neuropathic pain, negative pressure may be the only method the painful area can tolerate without the pain becoming unbearable. For reducing swelling, LymphaTouch is a game changer. By lifting the tissue, I can activate the lymphatic system quickly and effectively, and I can use negative pressure to redirect fluid according to the lymphatic watersheds. Negative pressure combined with high-frequency vibration softens and breaks down the fibrotic tissue caused by swelling better than manual treatment. LymphaTouch treatment is also cost-effective, because it speeds up treatment results and shortens the course of treatment.

I use LymphaTouch to manage both acute pain (e.g. sprains, strains, bruises, postoperative pain and acute muscle pain) and chronic pain (musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatic pain, osteoarthritis pain, cancer-related pain, metabolic diseases, diabetic neuropathy, CRPS). Most of my patients have lymphedema caused by mechanical failure of the lymphatic system after cancer surgery or radiotherapy, and I also treat lipedema patients.

I recommend the LymphaTouch device to all therapists who work with body care.
